Volunteer Opportunities

January Stewardship Project - Saturday, January 26, 2008
Now is a good time to clear honeysuckle at Mt. Airy as preparation for spring on our disc golf course. Honeysuckle is an invasive, non-native species that spreads quickly, chokes out our native plants, and causes harm to many park areas. We have a grave need to stop its growth, but we need help! Bring a group to work, then plan a fun day of disc golfing this spring or summer to enjoy the fruits of your labors! Please meet at Pineridge Lodge in Mt. Airy at 9:00 a.m. and plan to stay until noon. All volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and work gloves and dress for the weather. Tools will be provided. Please contact cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov or 861-8970 x20 to volunteer!

February Stewardship Project - Saturday, February 23, 2008
Calling all Boy Scouts! Volunteers are needed to cut honeysuckle and rehab the Boy Scout area at Lingo Woods in Mt. Airy. This would be a great project for troops who have used the area or plan to in the future. The Lingo Woods area was built for camping and hiking, so anyone interested in these things would also appreciate this project. Volunteers should meet at 9:00 a.m. at Pineridge Lodge and plan to wrap up at noon. Please dress for the weather. All tools will be provided. Please contact cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov or 861-8970 x20 to volunteer!

KABOOM Playground Project - Saturday, March 29, 2008
The Park Board is seeking groups of volunteers who are interested in helping the "Injury-free playground coalition" group to build several playgrounds in underserved neighborhoods. This project is planned for March 29 in Owl's Nest Park (Walnut Hills area). Please contact Cindi at cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov or 861-8970 x20 for more information.

Volunteer Summit - Thursday, January 24 at French House in French Park
Our 2nd annual Volunteer Summit will be held in January, this time at French Park (Amberley Village area). This is a planning time for groups and corporate volunteer partners to evaluate 2007 and schedule for 2008. Lunch and photo presentation from 2007 will be included. If your group is interested in partnering with the Parks in the future, this would be a great meeting to attend. Please call or e-mail Cindi for details at cindi.nugent@cincinnati-oh.gov or 861-8970 x20.
