Be a Part of the History of Cincinnati Parks

Cincinnati's local public television station CET is producing a documentary about Cincinnati's parks. Our beautiful parks have a rich history, vibrant current activity and exciting plans for the future. CET will tell this story spotlighting the pervasive and important role the parks have played in shaping the fabric of the Queen City. This documentary will weave the threads of past, present and future together to paint an engaging portrait that will entertain, educate and inspire viewers.

Themes include:

  • The legacy of Cincinnati Parks history, especially the Kessler Plan;
  • The contributions of notable people: Strauch, Kessler, Krohn, Ault, Kase, and other donors, commissioners, staff, volunteers and advocates;
  • The Parks contributions & commitment to natural resources, conservation and horticulture;
  • The needs, philosophies and uses that helped to shape the Parks; how they’ve changed and/or remained the same;
  • And the architecture & public art in the Parks.

CET began production on this one-hour, high-definition documentary in July, 2008.  Our crew is taping in neighborhood parks throughout the system and is attending many of the special events that take place during the year.  Production will continue through the winter and spring, and the show is scheduled to air in September of 2009.

Key staff are Producer - Director - Editor, Kim Mlinek; Writer - Researcher, Meg Hanrahan, and Director of Photography, Nick Baute.
